Book Review: Contagious

Contagious: Why Things Catch On by Jonah Berger

First off I would just like to say this book is amazing. It is more focused for people who are involved with marketing but it would be a great read for anyone. It helps you understand why certain videos and products are talked about more than others. As someone who loves marketing it completely made me rethink marketing techniques. Those advertisements that we find funny (which we assume are more effective as well) may actually be LESS effective than the boring ones we don’t like. To understand how this is possible you should read this book.

On Johah Bergers website (to view this website click here) this is how he describes his book…

“Why do some products get more word of mouth than others? Why does some online content go viral? Word of mouth makes products, ideas, and behaviors catch on. It’s more influential than advertising and far more effective.
If you’ve ever wondered why certain stories get shared, e-mails get forwarded, or videos go viral, Contagious: Why Things Catch On explains why, and shows how to leverage these concepts to craft contagious content.”

If you have a kindle you can buy it from amazon.com for like $11  and for a nook its like $13. Its not that expensive but worth every penny.
