Hunter Hayes Concert

Last week at the Porter County Fair Curt, Kristy, Dave, and I all went to see Hunter Hayes. While most of his fans are teens it was still fun. Plus we got to eat yummy, unhealthy fair food. Ella Mae Bowen opened up for him. She wasn't terrible but she wasn't amazing. I give her credit because she is an independent artist working toward her goal.

The concert was fun and I got to hear some songs from him that I hadn't heard before but really liked. Curt even enjoyed it and I think he only knew one or two of his songs! Just getting out of the apartment for a night was fun. We need to do it more often even if it is going for a walk.

Go Cubs Go!

Our last day in Chicago meant we finally got to go to the Cub's game. I was not a baseball fan before a met Curt. I'm still not a giant fan but I like watching games in person!

The Pirates warming up. We got to the game early enough to get free t-shirts. That means Curt now has 2 shirts since they only hand out x large. haha

Look at us. I love this picture!

 A picture of the fans.

Joel Quenneville ended up throwing the first pitch with the Stanley Cup.

 Holding the Stanley Cup.

I just happened to take a picture of him hitting when he hit a home run!

CUBS WIN! I like to think Curt and I were good luck for them.

After the game we headed home. Those 3 days allowed Curt to master driving in Chicago. Our weekend in Chicago was so much fun we decided we needed to take mini vacations more often. It feels good to get away for just a few days!

Walking the Streets of Chicago

On July 5th we decided to walk around Chicago for a little bit. Originally I wanted to go up in the Sears tower, aka Willis Tower. The line ended up wrapping around the block and there was no way we were gonna wait a few hours in that heat.

I did get a picture looking up at the Sears Tower though. :)

In some park looking at downtown Chicago.

A really cool concert location. I think it'd be fun to go to a concert here.

 We found the bean...of course.

 Got our picture.

Having a blast together!

We walked for like 3 hours and were exhausted afterwards so we just hung out in the hotel. Luckily, we are very entertaining and had fun in the hotel making fun of people on TV and talking about tree houses.

Hotel & Chicago Fireworks

So after our tour of Wrigley on July 4th we headed to the hotel. We chose this hotel by using Hotwire. We aren't picky so we just picked a 3 star hotel (we were going cheap) and ended up getting a room at the Acme hotel. This hotel ended up being perfect for us. The room was small but it was just the two of us. It's decor was inspired by music & movies.

Acme Hotel

I loved the unique touches like the zipper wall.

The lips on the mirror is actually a light. I thought it was awesome. :) It also had a waterfall shower which I think I like better than normal showers now. haha

4th of July Fireworks

After checking into our hotel we went out to eat and then waited on the fireworks.

Waiting on the fireworks to start. We actually had trees in our way so we missed the first 5 minutes of the fireworks but oh well. Our luck with fireworks hasn't been the best so far. All that matters is we saw them!

 Fireworks at Navy Pier

 Grand Finale

I'd say our first 4th of July as a married couple was a success....a Wrigley Field tour, delicious dinner, and fireworks at Navy Pier.

Wrigley Field Tour

Curt's birthday gift from me was a weekend getaway in Chicago. To top it off I got us tickets to a Cub's game and tickets for a tour of Wrigley Field. We started our vacation (and the 4th of July) at Wrigley Field for our tour. It was awesome! We will definitely take more tours of ball parks in the future.

 As we drove into Chicago.

I happened to snap this picture of Navy Pier while we were passing it. Our next weekend in Chicago will include going here!

While waiting for our tour we hit up the Cub's Store across the street.  Did you know they sell Cub's diapers?

 Time for our tour!

The only thing we didn't get to do which would have been fun is go into the scoreboard.

View from the bleacher seats.

Curt just can't get away from them.....

Sitting in the press box! It was pretty awesome to sit there for awhile. It can get up to 20 degrees cooler in this area because the wind blows straight into it. It felt good to us because of the heat!
We still haven't mastered the art of taking pictures of ourselves with the new camera. Here we were both looking at the screen not the lens. haha

This is looking toward the other press boxes.

The Cub's Clubhouse. It was kinda awesome to be able to go into their clubhouse.

We always love to see this flag.

Their batting cages are a pain to get to during a game so they rigged it in their clubhouse. They drop down that wood panel (which protects the flat screen behind it) then they lower the net and use a t-ball tee to practice.

Curt and I in their dugout.

These are pictures of the statues at the entrances of Wrigley Field.

This was a fun tour. I recommend people to do this. You will learn a lot. For instance, the first concession stand ever was at Wrigley Field and it is open at games. Curt and I have actually gone to this concession stand and didn't realize that it was the first one. Tickets for a tour are only $25 and if you go on non-game days (like we did) you get to go into the Cub's clubhouse. We both recommend going on a non-game day!
